The Old Rectory
Embrace the opulence of the Old Rectory...
The remarkable and beautiful Old Rectory blushes scarlet and overlooks the Royal Mile from seven windows and has views over the coast to Fife. Wind your way up to the second floor by a turnpike stair dated 1595. The huge bedroom features a Gothic bed created from antique pulpits, together with gilded pinnacles and several seating areas – because one was not enough. A separate sitting room features an Empire-style daybed and quirky collection of Gothic artefacts. The leather-lined red and gilt bathroom with a magnificent, polished silver bateau bath, twin sinks and a separate black marble shower room.
This suite was formerly James Thomson’s private study; today it’s the Witchery’s largest and most sumptuous bathroom.
